A FEW SUGGESTIONS
Gift Certificates Everyone knows what you paid, but that's OK. They're great for children, most of whom are thrilled to spend a $10 voucher on a toy. Teenagers appreciate a gift card from the music store.

In theory, there's nothing wrong with recycling gifts you've received that would suit someone else much better. Just remember to note on the box or bag who gave it to you before you put it in storage and forget. Avoid embarrassing moments later by recycling it in a different circle of acquaintances.
It's the Japanese way - All Japanese keep a closet full of gifts they received and never opened. The gesture is in the giving of an expected gift, not in what is in the gift. When the occasion arises, they just reach in and pull out a gift and give it. The gifts keep circulating for years.
Buy a small toolbox, any color will do, and fill it with craft materials: like sequins, pipe cleaners, stickers, string, glitter and stationary like pencils crayons, scissors, glue.
Survival kit 2 - With a box and a few household items you could have a present. The kit would be great for a last minute gift. Anything that makes sense to you can go into this present. It's also very inexpensive. When you have it all together, put it in the box and wrap it, if you want to. You may also want to include a guide that tells them what each item is for.
Goody basket - Have an extra basket or bag lying around? Stuff it with little assortments - from bath products to baked goods. It's easy to do and doesn't involve any wrapping.
Does a kid's birthday party invitation leave you wondering what gift you might buy them? Here are a few tips that should help you buy great birthday gifts for kids - while keeping things simple and stress-free.
1- If you have children involve them – they will love to help you choose and wrap the present and choose and write the card. From my own experience, even very small children do understand that if they buy a gift for a friend, sibling or relative they can’t keep it. Older children probably know better what their friends might like so you’ll have a better chance to buy a good present.
2- Buy craft / educative toys – young children always love crayons, colouring sheets, stickers, play-dough and other “creative” toys. They are also just perfect to keep everyone busy on a rainy day, so they’re good for parents too.
3- Give books, or toy vouchers can be a good option.
4- Avoid noisy toys for baby and toddlers – although a noisy toy will probably turn into a much-loved favourite toy, it will quickly drive the parents insane.
5- Ask the parents or the child – if you’re planning to buy a more expensive present or are buying for a god-child, niece or nephew, it might be worth asking the parents, or the child what they want – birthday gifts are important to kids, so it’s important to get it right.
6- Keep a list of what you buy for whom – if you have a lousy memory this will eliminate the risk of buying duplicate presents… and save you much embarrassment too!
7- I hope this helps. Of course the most important thing about birthdays is to remember them – having forgotten many I do speak from experience!! .......Sophie Baxter
