THE CLADDAGH RING
Legend tells of a man from Claddagh, Ireland, who was captured by pirates a week before his wedding. While enslaved, he created a ring for the woman he longed to marry. The heart symbolized their love; the hands, their friendship; the crown, their loyalty. Today, tradition says that if you are given this ring in friendship, the heart is worn pointed outward; if it is given in love, the heart points inward.
